Jack Reynor, the busy Irish American actor known for his work in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Midsommar and Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, has been announced as the first honoree at the 21st annual Oscar Wilde Awards.

The bash, organized by the US-Ireland Alliance, is scheduled for March 11 at the Ebell theater in Los Angeles in its traditional evening spot three days before the Academy Awards. The event celebrates the work of those from Ireland — and some who are not — who contribute to film, television and music.

Reynor, 34, was born in Colorado but moved with his family to Ireland when he was 2, and he now resides in Dublin.

“I remember first seeing Jack in Lenny Abrahamson’s What Richard Did in 2012 — it seemed obvious that he was just at the beginning of a long career,” US-Ireland Alliance president Trina Vargo said in a statement. “We look forward to honoring him in March.”

Reynor also has appeared for Irish filmmaker John Carney opposite Lucy Boynton in Sing Street (2016), alongside Eve Hewson in Flora and Son (2023) and with Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd in Power Ballad (2026), and he’s worked with the Russo brothers in Cherry (2021) and on the 2026 Prime Video spy drama Citadel.

He will next be seen with Rachel Brosnahan on the second season of the Apple TV legal anthology series Presumed Innocent.

The actor recently finished shooting the Gareth Evans-directed A Colt Is My Passport, a reimagining of the 1967 Yakuza hitman thriller from Takashi Nomura, and he’ll star with Lily James in the Amazon MGM horror movie Seasons (shot in Ireland) from writer-director Drew Hancock.

Reynor’s résumé also includes such other films as Gerard Barrett’s Glassland (2014), Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire (2016), Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit (2017) and Mimi Leder’s On the Basis of Sex (2018) and the 2024 Netflix limited series The Perfect Couple.

Other Oscar Wilde honorees will be announced in the coming weeks. Cronin, Maura Tierney and Domhnall Gleeson were celebrated last year.

Honorees since the event’s start in 2006 have included Hewson, Catherine O’Hara, Van Morrison, Norman Lear, Jim Sheridan, Hylda Queally, Glenn Close, Ruth Negga, Saoirse Ronan, Michelle Williams, Martin Short, Kenneth Branagh, Jessie Buckley, Carrie Fisher, Jamie Dornan, Pierce Brosnan, Brendan Gleeson, Colm Meaney, Terry George, Neil Jordan and late THR writer-editor Steve Brennan.

Northern Ireland Screen is among the sponsors.
