Adam Sandler Celebrates ‘Grown Ups 3’ Starting Production: “We Missed You”

Adam Sandler is ready to reunite with some pals for Grown Ups 3.

Netflix announced Thursday that filmmaker Kyle Newacheck‘s forthcoming comedy sequel is currently in production in New Jersey. Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello and Salma Hayek Pinault are all reprising their roles for the third installment of the film franchise that kicked off with 2010’s original Grown Ups.

The streaming service shared a group photo to Instagram that shows the cast seated around a swanky dinner table. The caption for the post read, “The gang’s all back for GROWN UPS 3! Now in production.”

Sandler also shared the images to his Instagram and added the message, “We missed you!”

Newacheck, who helmed last year’s record-setting Happy Gilmore 2 for Netflix, is directing Grown Ups 3 from a script by Sandler and longtime writing partner Tim Herlihy.

Julie Bowen, Deon Cole and Bailee Madison are among the franchise newcomers in the forthcoming project. Returning to the franchise are Jackie Sandler, Shaquille O’Neal, Colin Quinn, Tim Meadows, Cheri Oteri, Ellen Cleghorne and Nick Swardson.

The cast also includes Jake Goldberg, Alexys Nycole Sanchez, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Ada-Nicole Sanger, Morgan Gingerich, Kaleo Elam, Nadji Jeter, David Mattle and Kamil McFadden.

Plot details and a release date have not yet been revealed. Sandler, Herlihy, Jackie Sandler and Jack Giarraputo serve as producers.

Sony released Grown Ups in theaters in June 2010. Centering on five boyhood friends reuniting after the death of their beloved basketball coach, director Dennis Dugan’s film surpassed $270 million at the global box office. It spawned a 2013 sequel that added Andy Samberg, Taylor Lautner and Patrick Schwarzenegger to the fray.
