Baylor has fired coach Dave Aranda after seven seasons, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. The Bears lost a 14-game winning streak against Kansas on Saturday after a 25-24 loss marred by a blocked field goal near the end of regulation.
Aranda led Baylor to the best season in program history, a 12-win campaign capped off with a Big 12 championship and Sugar Bowl victory over Ole Miss. However, the program struggled to reach consistency, recording four losing seasons in six years.
The 2026 season started with promise as Baylor held its first six opponents to 20 or fewer points thanks to a revamped defense. However, it again devolved after a stunning 17-6 loss to rival TCU at home on Oct. 17.
Aranda finished his tenure with a 40-40 record and 26-32 mark in Big 12 play.
