Legendary singer Chaka Khan has entered into a partnership with HarbourView for a stake her catalog, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively report.

It’s unclear the specifics of the agreement including what rights and how much HarbourView has acquired as the company didn’t disclose any of the transaction terms, only calling it a partnership “focused on catalog development, global licensing, and the development of new creative ventures.” Financial details of the transaction weren‘t disclosed either.

“Chaka Khan is a remarkable talent — an artist whose voice, spirit, and presence have moved effortlessly across generations while never losing their power or soul,” HarbourView founder and CEO Sherrese Clarke said in a statement. “She is not only an iconic vocalist, but a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose energy, authenticity, and sense of self continue to inspire. As both a musical force and a fashion icon, Chaka embodies a rare blend of strength, style, and spirit. We are honored to work alongside her as she continues to evolve her legacy in ways that feel as vibrant and resonant as ever.”

Khan is one of the most celebrated singers of her generation, a particularly influential figure in funk and R&B as a member of the group Rufus and as a solo act. Among her most iconic records are “I’m Every Woman,” “Tell Me Something Good” and “Through the Fire.” The deal comes about a month after Khan released her latest song “Chakazilla.”

“Music is the most powerful and generous thing I know, you give it away and somehow it always comes back bigger. Seeing these songs still finding new ears and new hearts fills me up with joy,” Khan said in a statement. “This beautiful group at HarbourView gets what my music means, not just as a business, but as a body of love. That matters to me deeply.”

HarbourView has been one of the most active companies in the catalog acquisition space over the past several years. Prior to the Khan partnership, the company had closed deals with acts including Kelly Clarkson, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Christine McVie.
