(NEXSTAR) – Fruit puree pouches typically marketed toward children and sold nationwide are being recalled over the possible presence of plastic.
The recall impacts certain packages of Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry 4-ounce pouches. A notice shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration explains that there may be “a strand of soft, food-grade plastic in the finished product” due to an “internal packaging defect.”
The puree pouches were sold at Kroger, Meijer, and Target stores across the U.S. between March 6 and July 13 this year.
To confirm whether the pouches you’ve purchased are impacted by the recall, you’ll want to look for the following details:
- Barcode: 8 15367 01078 0
- Lane number: A ‘4’ printed on the right-hand side near the ingredient list.
- Best-Before-Date (BBD): 01/19/2027, 01/20/2027, 03/17/2027, 03/18/2027, 05/14/2027, or 05/15/2027
The recall only impacts 4-ounce pouches of Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry with the above information stamped on the back of the packaging.
According to the notice, the recall was issued voluntarily after the company, PT Organics, was alerted to the defect by its packaging supplier. A small number of inspected pouches were found to have the strand of soft plastic.
There have been no injuries reported as a result of the defect, the recall notice notes.
If you do have any of the recalled product, you’re encouraged to dispose of it immediately or return it to the store you purchased it from for a refund.
