Courtesy of Lionsgate Universal’s biographical drama “Michael” debuted at the top of the China box office during the April 24–26 weekend, earning RMB32.6 million ($4.8 million), according to data from Artisan Gateway.
With $217.3 million, “Michael” is also the No. 1 film in the world, per Comscore.
The local drama “It’s OK” moved to second place in its fourth weekend, adding $1.7 million for a cumulative total of $26.8 million. Produced by China Film and directed by Yang Lina, the film features Wen Qi and Qin Hailu in a story centering on a young woman whose life is disrupted by the sudden arrival of her mother as she prepares for an urgent medical procedure.
