NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH/NEXSTAR) – Comcast service has been restored Monday after an outage earlier in the day affected Xfinity customers across the country.
According to downdetector.com, customers began to report outages shortly before 4 p.m. EDT. The East Coast showed the largest number of reported outages. At the peak of the outage, 26,278 users had reported Comcast service issues.
On the social media platform X, the company’s support team replied to numerous users complaining that their cable TV wasn’t working with the following message:
Hello! We completely understand how frustrating this must be for you. Feel free to send us a DM including your full name and service address—our team is here and happy to help with whatever you need.
One person trying to watch the World Cup shared a photo of their TV — the program information appeared at the bottom but the rest of the screen was black, except for three white dots indicating that the program was trying to load.
The number of outage reports appeared to peak around 4:25, with some customers reporting that their service had been restored.
“Our customers are now up and running after a very brief interruption to their services due to a system update,” a Comcast spokesperson told Nexstar in a statement Monday evening. “We apologize for the inconvenience.”
