Dolly Parton Jason Kempin/Getty Images The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is replacing Dolly Parton‘s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star after it was vandalized a week after her death at age 80.
Photos and videos shared on social media Monday showed the legendary singer and actress’ star with dark markings across her name. One fan shared on Threads that she and her daughter went to lay flowers on Parton’s star to pay tribute to the icon, but that “somebody decided to do this about 10 minutes before we got here,” referring to the vandalism.
“When we arrived a custodian was cleaning and told us a woman kicked candles around then with the shards of one scratched the star,” the fan added in her caption. “Then a man came and stole the flowers that were there.”

Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told TMZ that repairs were already scheduled for Tuesday due to previous cracks in Parton’s star. However, she said fans reported Monday night that it was vandalized.
The Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains and repairs the stars, also wrote on Instagram that its “proud to honor the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star. The new star will be available for viewing this Friday.”
The Hollywood Reporter also reached out to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for comment.
Parton, known as the queen of country music, received her star on the Walk of Fame in 1984. It’s located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard.
The “Jolene” singer died peacefully in Nashville on Tuesday after a “brief battle with cancer,” her reps previously announced. “Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched. Her unmatched generosity reached the lives of countless people whom she would never meet, yet she was always there to offer a helping hand,” her team wrote in a statement.
Following her death, tributes poured in from former co-stars, fellow musicians and longtime friends, including Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Jane Fonda, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, Reba McEntire, Kevin Costner and many others.
