Simone Falso/Courtesy of Fandango Fandango Sales has taken all international rights to “Galileo,” a new film from Italo-Brit director Roan Johnson (“Rider”), toplining Italian A-list actor Elio Germano as pioneering scientist Galileo Galilei, who famously stood trial before the Roman inquisition.
Fandango is introducing the €8 million ($9 million) movie to international buyers during Rome’s MIA Market.
“Galileo,” which blends drama and comedy, sees Germano — who won top acting honors in Cannes with Daniele Luchetti’s “Our Life” – engaged in confrontation with his inquisitor before the trial over his “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems” treatise in which he demonstrated the truth of the Copernican system over the Ptolemaic one, proving, for the first time, that the Earth revolves around the Sun.
