Former GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) said she is contemplating creating a new political party following her public split with the Republican Party.

“I think there’s a group of us that if we decide to align, we could launch a true America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats or Republicans, but could align some serious players from the right and the left,” Greene said during a Tuesday interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

The retired lawmaker said she is “in talks” and having “serious conversations” about the possibility, but she noted the challenges to this initiative.

“It’s difficult to launch a third party, so the reality is this isn’t something that gets off the ground in just a couple of campaign cycles,” Greene told Morgan. “This is a movement that has to be developed and would take time to develop.”

Greene backed former Fox News host Tucker Carlson last month after he declared that he “would not support” the GOP in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party,” Greene wrote in a social media post

The retired Georgia lawmaker was previously considered a close ally of the Trump administration, but she began to split with the president toward the end of her time in Congress. After the Trump publicly denounced her criticism of his administration’s policies and pulled his endorsement of her, Greene announced that she would step down from her House seat.

Carlson, who was also once considered a fierce advocate for Trump, has broken with the administration over its military operations against Iran.

Morgan asked Greene during the Tuesday interview whether Carlson should consider a presidential run in 2028.

“I haven’t had that direct conversation with Tucker. I know a lot of people are speculating that, and I can tell you right now, Tucker Carlson would be a great threat to both parties because there’s many Americans that are very independent that would support him, but there’s also Republican voters and Democrat voters that would support him,” Greene said. “So I would say he’s a very credible threat.”
