NOW PLAYING

Another day, another weird and presumably anti-American display by a high-profile leftist commentator.

During a recent stream, Hasan Piker called attention to a framed newspaper article he had just hung on the wall behind him: the infamous Times cover depicting the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

Maybe Piker is just an avid collector of historic newspaper covers? Maybe he wants to remember that day solemnly and reflect on what Islamic terrorists did to us? Or maybe he’s sort of psyched it happened? Remember, this is a guy who once said that America deserves 9/11, and who evinces support for America’s enemies and radical terrorists at every turn. Remember when he said his favorite flag was the flag of Hezbollah?

Now, if you’ve been watching my radars this week, you know I’ve spent a lot of time criticizing Piker and Kyle Kulinski and the Democratic Socialists of America, and the people they are trying to elect to office: Melat Kiros and Darializa Avila Chevalier, etc. And I’m not going to stop any time soon. That’s because these people are truly dangerous, and are leading the Democratic Party down a very dark path. Is the party resisting? Is it doing anything to stop socialists and outright communists from taking over?

I’m worried Democrats and liberal commentators are, if anything, understating the radical nature of the DSA. As The Atlantic’s Jonathan Chait points out, while it’s true that the DSA was initially founded, decades ago, as a reaction to Marxist-Leninist and Maoist elements on the left, the modern DSA is much more explicitly aligned with communist goals, and its leaders are more embracing of communist figures like Mao and the old Soviet Union. That’s why Piker even dresses like Mao.

Can you even imagine a prominent rightwing commentator wearing a Nazi uniform, even ironically, and receiving no backlash? Of course not. The mainstream media would instantly demand that conservatives step away from that individual, which they would then do. Every single one of them.

But such is not the case for leftist commies.

Is anyone going to stand up against this? Say this is wrong? Are they going to do anything about it? Do they care that one of their most popular commentators, a man who Senate candidates want to stand next to, thinks the starvation of millions of people under communist economic policies is something cool and worth emulating?
