Tomorrow never dies. But for all actors except one, the dream of being the next James Bond will likely die this week.

And that is due to — finally! — a very select group of actors getting in front of cameras to screen test for the role of British agent 007.

According to several sources, Callum Turner, who recently starred in the rom-com One Night Only, and Slow Horses actor Jack Lowden are said to be in the mix for the screen tests, which are taking place in London this weekend. They could begin as early as Friday, according to two sources.

It is unclear who else may be testing. Sources said at least three actors are part of the action but another source says up to five may be putting on the tux to see how it fits. Jack O’Connell (Sinners) was rumored to initially be in the mix, but that is apparently not the case, according to sources. And despite some reports, Euphoria and Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi is not testing.

Amazon had no comment and pointed to its previous statement, which said, “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

The time looks to be nigh.

It is also unclear how involved these tests are, but they are understood to be comprehensive. Sources say there will be three components — stunts, camera presence and dialogue.

Twenty years ago, the tests for Bond included full hair and makeup and a full camera and sound crew on a set. Henry Cavill was among those vying for the role, but Daniel Craig emerged victorious, playing the role from from 2006’s Casino Royale until 2021’s No Time to Die.

Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is directing the new Bond outing, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing and overseeing the franchise for Amazon MGM Studios, which bought out the creative rights from the Broccoli family in February 2025.
