Julia Garner‘s next TV project will be at Apple TV.

The three-time Emmy winner will star in and executive produce Guilty Creatures, a true-crime thriller. The tech giant’s streaming service has given a series order to the project, which is based on Mikita Brottman’s book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida.

Craig Gillespie (Supergirl, Apple’s Your Friends & Neighbors) is set to direct the series. Stuart Zicherman (American Sports Story, The Americans) will serve as showrunner, and Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies) is adapting the book. Tomorrow Studios is producing.

Guilty Creatures will “delve into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder between two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers, unraveling their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years.” Brottman’s book unravels the December 2000 disappearance of Mike Williams. No body was ever found, but five years later, Mike’s long-time friend Brian Winchester divorced his wife, Kathy, and married Mike’s wife, Denise. The truth of what happened to Mike finally came to light 12 years after that.

Tomorrow Studios, an ITV Studios partner, developed the series via its first-look deals with Garner’s Alma Margo and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions. Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner executive produce for Tomorrow Studios. Garner, Zicherman, DeLappe, Gillespie, Fortunate Jack’s Annie Marter and Brottman also executive produce.

Garner (Ozark, Weapons) recently wrapped filming on The Altruists, a Netflix series about the rise and hard fall of crypto exchange FTX. Her recent work also includes The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man and Inventing Anna.

Garner is repped by UTA, LBI Entertainment and Sloane Offer. Gillespie and Fortunate Jack are with CAA and Sloane Offer; Marter is also repped by attorney Jared Bloch. Zicherman is repped by Mosaic Media Group, UTA and MFW. Brottman is repped by Betsy Lerner at Dunow Carlson and Lerner Literary Agency.
