The veteran filmmaker will deliver the keynote at this weekend’s State of the Story conference. He joins a program that already includes Oscar winners Cord Jefferson, Diablo Cody and Graham Moore, Emmy winners David Wain and former DGA president Paris Barclay, multi-hyphenate Nia Vardalos, KPop Demon Hunters scribes Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, The Black List founder and CEO Franklin Leonard, 12:01 Films producer Scott Glassgold, Verve partner David Boxerbaum and Lit Entertainment founder Adam Kolbrenner.

The event, scheduled to take place March 22, will be hosted at a new home at Harmony Gold Theater. It was previously scheduled for the Writers Guild Theater but organizers moved it amid the staff strike.
Storytelling360 is a live-event series that brings together top storytellers to discuss the “state of the story” during panel conversations and other programming. The events benefit a cause within the arts.
The inaugural series took place in both Los Angeles and New York last year and featured award winning speakers like Spike Lee, Friends guru Marta Kauffman, Eric Roth (Forrest Gump), Jon Hurwitz (Cobra Kai), Sex and the City’s Candace Bushnell, Tony Kushner (Lincoln), Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), Celine Song (Past Lives), Lee Daniels (Precious), Craig Brewer (Song Sung Blue), Michelle and Robert King (The Good Wife), Tony Award winner Warren Leight (Law & Order) and more.
Smith is best known for his Clerks franchise. He’s coming off the release of his film Moose Jaws and other recent credits like The 4:30 Movie, Clerks III, Killroy Was Here, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
