Kit Harington Gets Caught in Love Triangle in ‘Tale of Two Cities’ Trailer

Kit Harington gets caught between Francois Civil and Mirren Mack in a messy love triangle in the trailer for MGM+’s four-part historical drama A Tale of Two Cities, which adapts Charles Dickens’ classic novel about the French Revolution.

Set in 1782 London and amid war between France and Britain, Mack plays a young woman, Lucie Manette, who learns via a message that her father, assumed dead, may be alive in Paris. The messenger, French emigré Charles Darnay (Civil) is arrested for treason. Manette then enlists lawyer Sydney Carton (Harington) to free Darnay and lead her to her father in Paris.

Only the collision between Manette, Darnay and Carton unleashes a complex love triangle as both men fight for her love and Manette struggles over whom to choose. “Yet neither man — physically so alike, spiritually poles apart — can escape the other. Instead, they find themselves bound together in life and death, through triumphs, tragedies, marriage, and murder,” a synopsis from the producers adds.

The adventure drama and romancer will premiere on Sept. 6, with a weekly release on MGM+ in the U.S., Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and Latin America. Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities was published in 1859 and is set in a contrasting London and Paris before and during the French Revolution.

A Tale of Two Cities, created and written by Daniel West, is produced by Federation Stories, and is a co-production between Federation Studio France and Thriker Films, for MGM+ and the BBC. Executive producer credits are shared by Polly Williams, Léo Becker, Sarah Best, Harington, West and Hong Khaou.
