Stephanie March Melanie Dunea Logo text A former Law & Order: SVU regular will return to the show for a guest appearance later this season. No, not that one.
Stephanie March, who played prosecutor Alexandra Cabot over eight seasons of the NBC series, will guest star in SVU’s ninth episode of season 28. An airdate for the episode hasn’t been scheduled yet, and NBC is keeping details of Cabot’s return quiet for now.
March will be the second former SVU regular to appear on the show this season. Christopher Meloni will reprise his role as Elliot Stabler on the show’s milestone 600th episode, which is set to air Nov. 12.

March first played Cabot, an assistant district attorney assigned to the Special Victims Unit, for three seasons from 2000-03. She departed the show early in season five after her character was seemingly murdered, though it’s then revealed that she’s going into federal witness protection. March reprised her role in seasons six, 10, 11 and 13 (she had a recurring part in the latter three) and also starred in the Law & Order-adjacent series Conviction in 2006.
Her most recent appearance on the show came in 2018, when she crosses paths with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) in a missing persons case. That season 19 episode revealed that Cabot has left the DA’s office and is helping abuse victims escape their abusers.
March’s recent acting credits also include Harlan Coben’s Shelter at Prime Video, The CW’s Naomi and feature film Origin from director Ava DuVernay. March is repped by Paradigm and Navigation Media Group.
