Maine Democrats on Saturday are poised to announce their nominee to replace Graham Platner in the race to unseat incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine). Former state Sen. Troy Jackson is the likely pick.
Platner withdrew his bid earlier this month following allegations of sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, President Trump has issued warning after warning to Iran that a major escalation in the conflict is on the horizon, but experts signal it is unlikely to move the needle for the regime. Tehran also marked its first night without U.S. strikes Saturday, after two-weeks of consistent attacks.
Trump also took center stage at the make-up White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) dinner late Friday. His speech was laden with quips at his own administration, former President Biden, his political foes and the media. The audience reception, however, was lukewarm.
The president is in Washington this weekend.
