The U.S. and Iran have traded attacks this weekend, threatening the two sides’ 60-day ceasefire and negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran on Sunday launched drone and missile attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, two key U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf. Iran’s attacks came after U.S. forces conducted additional strikes against multiple Iranian targets in response to an attack against a Panama-flagged tanker near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also threatened a “complete halt” in talks to fully end the war if Washington continues its own attacks.

The news comes after Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.), buoyed by President Trump’s endorsement, defeated Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming in the GOP runoff for Sen. Bill Cassidy’s (R-La.) seat on Saturday night, according to a projection by Decision Desk HQ.

Cassidy failed to gain enough votes to hold onto his seat weeks prior.

The GOP senator, who will be a guest on CBS‘s “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning, was one of several Republicans that voted to impeach Trump over the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol and has been openly critical of the administration’s vaccine policy and the Iran war. Earlier this week, he got into a shouting match with the president at a lunch with Republican senators, before reverseing his vote on curtailing Trump’s actions on the Iran war.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will also be appearing on the Sunday show circuit days after a trio of New York House candidates he backed won, defeating establishment picks in the process.

The wins have set off discussions within the Democratic Party, with some worried far-left candidates could hurt the rest of the party in the fall elections. Israel was a huge focus of the campaigns, and the wins point to shifting politics on the issue for the party.

Trump doesn’t have anything on his public schedule on Sunday.
