At La Quinta Resort & Club, Curio Collection by Hilton, the arrival sets the tone long before check-in. Sun-baked tile driveway, bougainvillea spilling over whitewashed walls and panoramic views of the Santa Rosa Mountains all signal where you are: deep in the Coachella Valley, with the pace already starting to shift.

Open since 1926, the resort stretches across 45 acres in the town of La Quinta, located about 30 miles from Palm Springs. Long before Coachella Valley became a seasonal spectacle, the property drew a different kind of audience. Greta Garbo, Clark Gable and Shirley Temple were among the early regulars, part of a steady stream of Hollywood figures who treated the resort as a discreet desert escape.
