‘How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents’ Courtesy of Netflix Netflix has unveiled a new slate of South African content across film and series.
Among the new series unveiled on Wednesday is an expansion of thr How to Ruin with How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents, “another irreverent take on family, love and culture launching on Oct. 30 from Burnt Onion Productions in collaboration with producer Jayan Moodley (The Kandasamys). “Drawing on the same rich tradition of Moodley’s South African Indian family-centered comedy seen in titles such as The Kandasamys, the story follows an interracial couple whose engagement brings two very different families and cultures together, setting the stage for plenty of humor, misunderstandings and family drama,” Netflix said.

New shows with new production partners were also part of Netflix’s Wednesday update. “South Africans are fans of reality shows, so Netflix is bringing more of their favorite genre,” the streamer said, revealing popular power couple Dineo and Zothile “Solo Ntsizwa” Langa as the hosts of the previously unveiled Love Is Blind: South Africa, produced by afrOkaans and set for its debut later this year.
Also hitting Netflix later this year is the wedding docu soap Stars & Vows: Anele and Buzza from Dopezuluboi Productions. Plus, production firm BrightFire is also working on a new dating reality show, the streamer said, without disclosing further details.
Film sequels and returning series also featured on Netflix’s latest South Africa slate. “Fans can look forward to returning seasons and sequels of their favorite films and series, including Blood Legacy season 2 (launching Sept. 25), Seriously Single Too and Another Disaster Holiday, both launching later in 2026,” Netflix said.
It also confirmed that the series Tuiskoms and Marked will return for second seasons, while and the film Meet the Khumalos 2 is also currently in production.
Netflix on Wednesday also shared data on its industry impact since first launching in South Africa 10 years ago. “Netflix’s local South African productions have filmed across 20 cities in eight provinces,” it noted. “Netflix has supported more than 8,000 jobs through partnerships with over 30 local production companies. Over 300 local South African films and series have been showcased on Netflix, including original productions like Blood & Water and The Polygamist.”
