Princess Diana with the then-Prince of Wales. Anwar Hussein/Getty Images Never-before-heard tapes of Princess Diana talking about her tumultuous relationship with the Crown will come to light in a new docuseries.
Led by executive producers Kerene Barefield and Naveed Chowdhary-Flatt, Love Monday TV has partnered with 53 Degrees Global (The Royal House of Windsor) to make Diana: The Unheard Truth (w/t).
During her lifetime, the Princess of Wales told her own version of her full life story just once — in 1991, on secret, taped conversations made with her close friend James Colthurst, which formed the basis of Andrew Morton’s book Diana: Her True Story. Love Monday TV has now partnered with Morton and Colthurst to secure “full and exclusive access” to those conversations decades after her 1994 death.

The five hours of unheard tapes — spread across three episodes — provide revelations that “will change public perception of Diana forever,” said Love Monday TV. She is said to discuss navigating the challenges of being thrust into the spotlight, her dreams for the future, and a new chapter in which Charles does indeed marry Camilla, as he went on to do, leaving Diana free to “carve her own path.”
“Viewers will be astounded to hear how accurate she was in predicting the future,” Love Monday also said. “However, what is truly astounding is to hear Diana’s thoughts on Charles, Camilla, William, Harry, Fergie and even Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor through the lens of all that has happened in the intervening years.”
Sophie Todd is series editing with Emily Hirst producing. Justin Frahm is director of photography, and the project is fully funded by Rainmaker Films, led by Clay Pecorin, Russell Geyser and Zak Tanjeloff and Plymouth Films, fronted by Kevin Weisberg.
The series doesn’t yet have a platform attached to it, and is being shopped worldwide.
