Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) has garnered an endorsement from former GOP Sen. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) in his bid to keep his seat.

“I’m still a conservative Republican. But character matters. And I want someone in that seat who takes the institution seriously and will protect the institution,” Flake said, according to The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Flake has a history of criticizing President Trump and sometimes backing Democrats on the campaign trail.

In late September 2024, he said that many conservative Republicans “just can’t support a candidate like” Trump and announced he was backing former Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential bid.

According to a recent poll, Ossoff holds a 9-point lead over Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) as the Democrat seeks reelection. The AARP survey found that 52 percent of likely voters supported Ossoff, with 43 percent of respondents backing Collins.

Last month, Ossoff announced he earned $20 million in fundraising in the second quarter of the year, ending the quarter with $42 million in cash on hand.

“The Ossoff campaign is building unstoppable grassroots momentum to push back against Republican dark money, power our massive and winning coalition over the next four months, and resoundingly defeat Trump loyalist Mike Collins at the ballot box come November,” Ossoff’s campaign manager, Ellen Foster, said in a prior release.
