(NEXSTAR) – It’s been 30 years since Caniacs had their first chance at enjoying their chicken fingers with Cane’s Sauce and a side of Texas toast. Now, the fast food chicken chain Raising Cane’s is looking to bring its largely unchanged menu to even more locations.
The first Raising Cane’s opened its doors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996. Since then, Cane’s has grown to have more than 950 locations across 44 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam.
An additional seven locations are on track to open in August, with even more in the works.
“As we celebrate 30 years, we’re more excited than ever for what’s ahead and look forward to bringing Raising Cane’s to even more Communities in the years to come,” a spokesperson said in a statement provided to Nexstar.
Cane’s is also reopening four recently remodeled locations this month. The first, reopening on August 12, is on Texas Avenue in College Station, Texas. Days later, on August 17, locations on Las Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas and Nicholasville Road in Lexington, Kentucky, will reopen. The final Cane’s location, on Hamilton Road in Gahanna, Ohio, reopens on August 24.
The first of the new restaurants are opening in Novi, Michigan, outside of Detroit, and in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, east of Raleigh. It’s in Michigan that Cane’s has one of its smallest footprints, with the Novi location marking just the sixth in the state (though another is “coming soon”).
Other Cane’s restaurants opening this month include locations in:
- Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, California – August 10
- Slover Avenue, Fontana, California – August 17
- Edgar Road, Linden, New Jersey – August 17
- McFarland Boulevard, Tuscaloosa, Alabama – August 24
- US-80, Statesboro, Georgia – August 24
Raising Cane’s lists additional restaurants as “coming soon” on its website. Two are listed as opening this month: a restaurant at Sunset and Western in Los Angeles, slated for August 4, and what appears to be San Francisco’s first-ever Cane’s restaurant, on Jefferson Street, set for an August 24 opening.
Additional locations in both cities are among those listed as “coming soon,” with no date yet published online. A spokesperson wasn’t able to provide any additional information to Nexstar.

While these restaurants won’t bring Raising Cane’s into any new states, the company has previously shared plans to operate restaurants in “every state and all major cities across the U.S.” As of August 2026, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming are still awaiting access to Cane’s Sauce.
The chicken chain said population density weighs heavily in its decisions about “where and when we expand into new markets and states.”
Cane’s is already targeting new locations for 2027 as well. A representative confirmed to Nexstar’s KRON last month that the company hopes to open new locations in Rohnert Park and Napa, both north of San Francisco, next year.
Officials in Colonie, New York, and West Manchester Township, Pennsylvania, have also given Raising Cane’s approval to build new locations in their towns. It’s unclear when these restaurants could open.
