Milo Manheim, RaeAnne Boon, Peyton List, Jess Gabor and Kristian Ventura in ‘School Spirits’ season 3. Ed Araquel/Paramount+ Logo text Paramount+’s YA drama School Spirits will get to keep haunting the halls of a high school (and beyond).
The streamer has renewed School Spirits for a fourth season. The pickup comes about three weeks after season three concluded with a big change for several of its characters.
The show centers on Maddie (Peyton List), a teenager who suddenly finds herself in the afterlife and haunting the halls of her high school. She and her fellow spirits had been confined to the school until the season three finale, when the barrier keeping them there was destroyed.
The show’s cast also features Kristian Ventura, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell, Josh Zuckerman, Maria Dizzia, Ci Hang Ma, Miles Elliot and Milo Manheim.
YA programming is undergoing a renaissance at several other streamers, but for the time being School Spirits — and the youth-focused Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which will end after its second season — are the only original series at Paramount+ fitting that bill.
Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud created School Spirits and serve as co-showrunners. Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Bridgerton), who had been showrunner in previous seasons, will return as a consultant for season four. The Trinruds and List are executive producers on the show from Paramount TV Studios.
