The Senate Ethics Committee has dismissed a complaint against Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) filed by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) accusing the senator of making inappropriate advances toward several women and violating campaign finance rules.

The Ethics panel informed Gallego in a letter Friday that its investigations “did not find evidence that your actions violated Federal law, Senate Rules or related standards of conduct.”

The panel said it appreciated Gallego’s full cooperation during its investigation and added that it “retains the authority to revisit this matter should additional facts become known to the committee.”

Luna said in April that she had heard of four women who had “multiple and uncomfortably/inappropriate advances/comments/touching, etc. from Senator Gallego.”

Gallego strongly denied the allegations.

He said the Ethics Committee’s conclusion that Luna’s allegations were not supported by evidence shows they were “right-wing conspiracies.”

“The dismissal by the Ethics Committee reaffirms what I have said about these accusations from the beginning: they were right-wing conspiracies peddled by far-right activists like Anna Paulina Luna, the White House and their allies,” he said in a statement.

“I look forward to an apology from Rep. Luna for weaponizing the ethics process while refusing to investigate historic corruption that’s making life harder for families,” he added.

Gallego set up a legal defense fund in May in response to the allegations from Luna.

The Arizona senator publicly apologized in April for his friendship with former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who dropped out of the California gubernatorial race and resigned from Congress after several women, including a former staffer, accused him of sexual misconduct.

Gallego, who chaired Swalwell’s 2020 presidential campaign, said he misjudged Swalwell because of their friendship.

“My friendship with him, our family’s friendship together with him, clouded my judgment, and I was wrong. I deeply, deeply regret that,” he said at a news conference on Capitol Hill.

Gallego told reporters that he never saw Swalwell engage in any of the “predatory behavior, harassment, sexual assault” or other misconduct he is accused of, and he apologized to Swalwell’s alleged victims.
