Maria Asselin-Roy Visar Morina, the filmmaker behind the 2026 Sundance World Cinema Dramatic Competition Jury Prize winner “Shame and Money” has signed with Cinetic for representation.
The film is eligible for the 2027 Best International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards thanks to rule changes announced this month. Under the new requirements, countries or regional selection committees can still select international films to submit for consideration, but films can also qualify by winning a designated top prize at one of six approved festivals. That’s a hurdle that “Shame and Money” cleared because of the prize it won at Sundance.
