'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.' Sony Logo text Footage for the next Spider-Man movie has leaked online, and co-writer and producer Christopher Miller isn’t pleased.
Four-and-a-half-minutes of footage from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse — the final film in the hit animated Spider-Verse trilogy — is making the rounds.
Miller took to X to condemn the leak: “Not a fan of leaks of unfinished, not fully rendered footage.”
Beyond the Spider-Verse isn’t expected in theaters until June 18, 2027.

It’s not clear where the footage is from, but Sony showed industry insiders and fans a look at the movie at CinemaCon in April. The Beyond the Spider-Verse footage appears to be from the new film’s opening scene combined a montage of traditional trailer clips. It picks up where the previous film, Across the Spider-Verse, left off in a cliffhanger — with hero Miles Morales tied up by his Earth-42 counterpart and Uncle Aaron.
Sony Pictures had no immediate comment.
Some fans who saw the footage largely shrugged off Miller’s protest. “Looks good so far tho, if THAT was unfinished, imagine the finished version,” wrote one.
Beyond the Spider-Verse is from writer-producers Phil Lord and Miller (who wrote the script along with David Callaham) and directors Justin K. Thompson and Bob Persichetti. At CinemaCon, Miller promised it was “the most emotional Spider-Verse film we have ever made” and Lord dubbed it the “most spectacular.” Shameik Moore stars at the voice of Miles, the Brooklyn teen Spider-Man and Hailee Steinfeld is Spider-Gwen.
Across the Spider-Verse grossed more than $690 million in 2023. The franchise launched with 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse, which won the Oscar for best animated feature and was credited with pushing the animation genre into new, more experimental directions.
The leak follows Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day setting all sorts of box office records, rocketing to $1.8 billion at the global box office.
