Stephen Root has won the Emmy for supporting actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of Wyck in Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay.” This is his first win.

He has also broken the record — by two years — as the oldest actor to win in this category. The title was previously held by Henry Winkler, who, at 72, won for his role as Gene Cousineau in “Barry.” Winkler’s record-setting win was also his first Emmy, coming in 42 years after his first nomination for “Happy Days.” Root was also nominated for his role as Monroe Fuches in “Barry” in 2019, one year after Winkler’s big night.
