Courtesy of Sitges Film Festival Lionsgate has picked up “Tortures of the Damned,” the next horror project from “Terrifier’s” Damien Leone. The studio and filmmakers are keeping the plot under wraps, but given that Leone is the demented mind behind Art the Clown, it’s a pretty safe bet the bodies will pile up.
Leone, a master of micro-budgeted genre films, is getting a bigger canvas to play on here. He will write, direct, and produce the project, which will be his next film after completing “Terrifier 4,” which is currently in pre-production. He will be joined as a producer by Sam Raimi, the director of “Send Help” and “Spider-Man,” and Rob Tapert, who will produce through their Ghost House label. Like Leone, Raimi got his start on low-budget horror films like “Evil Dead.”
