As two recommendations in our best outdoor security cameras guide, these Eufy cameras are great for securing your home. You can pair them with a hub for local storage (16 GB upgradeable to 16 TB) and on-device AI detection covering people, pets, vehicles, and even face recognition. Video resolution goes up to 4K, and these cameras have solar panels to keep their batteries topped up. The AI isn’t flawless, and the frame rate is limited (15 frames per second), but these are subscription-free.

Echo Show 11
$250 $150 (40% off)Amazon
Amazon devices have always been heavily discounted during Prime Day, but recent price hikes have made the sales less attractive than in previous sales. Still, it's the best time to score a deal, and these two are the top picks for home automation this year. The Echo Spot is a fun and affordable smart speaker that serves as a bedside alarm, but can also display the weather or your calendar details when you ask Alexa. The Show 11 is a perfect smart display for your kitchen counter.

These retrofit devices add automation and remote control to your Venetian blinds or curtains. You can connect your phone via Bluetooth to open and close your window shades or set up a schedule. Solar panels keep the batteries topped up, and a light sensor closes the shades automatically when the sun is out. For voice and distance control, you need a SwitchBot Hub Mini or Hub 2.
