Glaxo 'Glaxo' Toronto Film Festival

Rachel Morrison’s Love of Your Life, starring Margaret Qualley; Ben Shirinian’s The Housewife, with Naomi Watts; and the Mahershala Ali-starring hitman thriller Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother are set for world premieres at the Toronto Film Festival in September, organizers said on Thursday.

TIFF is also giving a first look for Glaxo, from Argentine Benjamín Naishtat, and an international premiere for the Zellner brothers’ alien invasion comedy Alpha Gang after an expected world premiere in Venice.

Black Panther cinematographer-turned-director Rachel Morrison directs the Amazon MGM Studios feature Love of Your Life about a young woman, played by Qualley, who, finding herself suddenly single, goes on a journey to find a way forward in her life. The film is produced by Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson and also stars Gabriel Basso, Aaron Pierre and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Shirinian makes his feature debut in The Housewife, starring Watts, Tye Sheridan, Michael Imperioli and Norman Reedus. Based on a true story from 1964, the psychological drama will see Sheridan play a young New York Times journalist tracking down a potential Nazi officer living secretly in Queens. When he befriends the suspect’s charming wife, played by Watts, his investigation goes off track.

There’s also a Toronto berth for the Mahershala Ali-starring hitman thriller Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, written and directed by Bassam Tariq for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures. John Cho, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone and Giancarlo Esposito also star in the film set for a fall 2026 theatrical release on the heels of TIFF.

And Toronto has booked into its Special Presentations program Glaxo, from Argentine Benjamín Naishtat. The adaptation of Hernán Ronsino’s novel of the same name stars actress and singer Lali Espósito, Esteban Lamothe and Marcelo Subiotto.

Elsewhere, Cate Blanchett stars in Alpha Gang as the leader of an extraterrestrial strike force disguised in human form as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang and on a ruthless conquest of Earth. Chris Pine, Dave Bautista, Léa Seydoux, Lily-Rose Depp, Adria Arjona and Doona Bae also star.

Toronto earlier announced CODA filmmaker Sian Heder will open the 51st edition with Being Heumann, while world premieres at Roy Thomson Hall are also set for Prima Facie from British director Susanna White and The Assassin(s) from Korean auteur Hur Jin-ho.

The Toronto Film Festival will run from Sept. 10-20.
