President Trump on Tuesday mounted a full-throttled defense of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s leadership ahead of his Senate confirmation hearing, where he will likely face tough questions on his time helming the Justice Department.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump praised Blanche’s tenure atop the department, claiming his leadership brought murder rates down to historic lows, including “the biggest one year drop in RECORDED HISTORY,” and crediting him for driving violent crime arrests “UP 100%.”

“Todd Blanche is doing a PHENOMENAL job as Acting Attorney General of the United States,” Trump wrote. He further touted the department’s seizure of more than 500 million deadly doses of drugs.

“This is what happens when you unleash LAW AND ORDER on our streets, instead of protecting vicious Criminal Thugs, and releasing dangerous Illegal Aliens into our Communities like the Dumocrats did for four disastrous years under Sleepy Joe Biden.”

Trump also claimed Blanche had furthered a variety of MAGA priorities in his temporary role, including protecting free speech, ending the weaponization of the Justice Department, standing against transgender people in women’s sports and “gone to all-out-WAR against Fraud like nobody in the History of the Department of Justice.”

“When the Corrupt Biden ‘Injustice’ Department and Radical Left Prosecutors tried to throw me in jail, and interfered in our Historic 2024 Presidential Campaign, Todd stood by my side and fought off the Lawfare,” Trump wrote, adding that Blanche was a “fair” and “great” lawyer who is loyal to the Constitution.

Trump then made a final plea to Republicans to confirm Blanche.

“Every Republican Senator should vote to CONFIRM Todd Blanche, ASAP!”

Trump nominated Blanche to lead the department after former Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired in April. Blanche, who was once Trump’s personal attorney and represented him in various criminal trials, has been acting in a temporary role since.

Blanche will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday for a confirmation hearing to determine whether he may take on the role in a permanent capacity.

He is expected to be grilled by senators over issues that arose in the department during his tenure, including his push for a nearly $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund and the department’s handling of the files involving convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The majority of the seats on the Senate Judiciary panel are currently held by Republicans. But the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) over the weekend, who was among the most senior Republicans on the committee, caused Blanche to lose one of his most vocal defenders in the Senate.
