When McGregor and Holloway last faced off in 2013, McGregor won by unanimous decision. But given McGregor’s time away from the UFC, Holloway enters this fight the favorite — though he moved up a weight class to compete. McGregor’s last Octagon appearance was in 2021, which resulted in a broken leg in the first round.
The bout will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m PT. Other fights on the card include Benoit Saint-Denis vs. Paddy Pimblett in the lightweight division, and the bantamweight fight between Cory Sandhagen and Mario Bautista.
At the weigh-in, McGregor came in at 170.5 pounds, while Holloway weighed 170. Holloway has spent most of his career in the lightweight division, including his most recent fight, a loss to Charles Oliveira in March. McGregor has competed in the featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight divisions.
During the press conference, McGregor took Holloway’s sunglasses and threw them to the ground, and swatted Holloway’s hand when he reached for a handshake. That led UFC CEO Dana White to step between the riled-up pair, setting the stage for a contentious rematch.
