US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday said it relaunched strikes against Iran following the death of one service member in Iraq.

“CENTCOM began conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran at 7 p.m. ET today for the ninth consecutive night,” CENTCOM said in a Saturday statement posted to X.

“The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” it continued.

The full-scale war with Iran was resumed on July 7 as outlined by President Trump in a letter sent to Congress.

Iran’s retaliation against U.S. strikes caused the death of three service members this week.

One service member was killed during a “controlled detonation” of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone.

Two additional service members were pronounced dead on Friday after an Iranian attack in Jordan. President Trump said that the resumed strikes on Iran would be made in “honor” of the three service members killed.

“We feel very badly, but you know those great people, those great patriots, were out there fighting that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Iran has been very, very badly damaged,” Trump told reporters on Sunday.

“They’ve lost everything almost militarily. They’ve got very little left. They’ve got some missiles. They’ve got some drones. They’ve got some manufacturing ability, not much…So we’ll see what happens. But we hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honor of the probably three,” the president added.
