Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday morning after President Trump nominated him to serve permanently as the nation’s top prosecutor
Blanche, who took on the acting role after former Attorney General Pam Bondi was ousted from the position, served as a key part of the Justice Department’s investigation of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and subsequent release of documents tied to the case.
He is also likely to face questions around the now-defunct anti-weaponization fund, which would have offered money to those who believe they were unfairly targeted by the government to settle claims.
Trump on Tuesday pressed Republicans to confirm Blanche, who is also his former personal lawyer.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. EDT.
