‘Conclave’ Director Edward Berger, Matthew Libatique Set for Evolution Mallorca Film Fest Tributes

Conclave director Edward Berger is set to receive the Evolution Vision Award at the upcoming 15th edition of the Evolution Mallorca Film Festival.

The German director and producer is also known for the Oscar-winning drama All Quiet on the Western Front. The European film festival will also award Matthew Libatique, the three-time Oscar nominee, its Cinematography Icon Award.

Libatique is best known for work on Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Black Swan, Mother!, A Star Is Born and Maestro. In other prize-giving, the Mallorca festival will honor German actress Iris Berben with another Evolution Icon Award during the opening gala on Oct. 28 in Palma, Mallorca.

Berger, Libatique and Beren will be among participants in master classes and screening events, while the closing night gala and award ceremony will take place on Nov. 4 at the Teato Principal.

And the film festival announced actor and producer Marc Clotet will return to become president of the jury for the 15th edition after presenting the juried Voz Dormida prize at the first edition 2012. His credits include Física o Química, Tiempos de guerra, Madres and Ciudad de sombras.

Our new collaboration with the island municipality of Calvià responds to a shared ambition: to create meaningful opportunities for filmmakers, to promote Mallorca as an exceptional place for shoots, and to contribute to the growth of the island’s audiovisual community.”
