Former White House Communications Director during President Trump’s first term Stephanie Grisham filed a restraining order against Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio), following allegations of abuse from his ex-wife.

Grisham’s counsel Mark S. Zaid announced on social platform X that they filed for a temporary restraining order against Miller as an ongoing lawsuit continues.

The case originally began with an op-ed Grisham wrote in the Washington Post that described an abusive relationship with an anonymous man. Miller filed a defamation suit against her shortly after the article was published, but the case was eventually dropped as both parties signed a nondisclosure agreement to not publicly disparage one another.

Grisham filed her new lawsuit after Miller said in a June interview with Spectrum News that the allegations should be taken seriously and it “should be noted” that “allegation came out on the same day as somebody’s book launch and the other part.”

“What I would like to discuss is my ex-wife was with me every single day during that time of my life in that election, and she, in her own words, will tell you that I never did any of those things,” he added.

Miller is currently in a custody battle with his ex-wife Emily Moreno over their daughter, which has gained national attention after Moreno has accused Miller of hurling scalding hot water at her, holding a gun to her head and breaking their daughter’s collarbone. He has denied these allegations and vowed to continue his reelection campaign.

Moreno’s father, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), already publicly called for Miller to resign as Republicans continue to encourage his resignation from Congress.

“First off, he shouldn’t be in office, right,” Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) told MeidasTouch’s Pablo Manríquez in a brief interview.

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) also said in comments made to the outlet that based off what he knows, Miller should resign, stating that he has not heard the congressman’s side of the story but knows the Moreno family and he “can’t imagine they would go through this process if there wasn’t something there.”

Some Republicans are now wondering if there is time to replace Miller on the ballot as the deadline for Miller to drop is Wednesday. Democrats are eyeing the potential for an upset in a district Trump won by 11 points in 2024.

“I’m going to let the families figure that out,” President Trump said to reporters at the White House. “It’s accusations and I’m going to let them figure that out.”

On Tuesday, Miller announced on the social platform X that he would be launching an ethics investigation into himself in an attempt to clear up all of the accusations.

“In light of all the renewed interest in my family affairs I am going to file my own paperwork for an ethic investigation to clear my name from the horrific attacks on myself and my family, Miller said.

“The accusations continue to change, but my facts stay the same. I am looking forward to my colleagues reading everything for themselves,” he continued.
