Karen Read is getting her say. Like, directly.

Read and her attorney Alan Jackson are launching a video podcast on YouTube in early 2027, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, titled Read Between the Lines. Get it?

Read Between the Lines, from creator media company Pave Studios’ true crime brand Crime House, will be a weekly series that aims to “take a fresh new look at the modern justice system from the eyes of a wrongly accused woman and her trial lawyer.” Here, Read is the former and Jackson is the latter.

The series, which will also be available as an audio-only podcast on all major platforms, will look at “a new real-world case each week, from local controversies like Sandra Birchmore to national headlines like the Kohberger Idaho slayings,” Pave says. “They reconstruct what happened, examine how the case was investigated and prosecuted, and identify the details, decisions and evidence that may have been overlooked or misunderstood.”

It’s possible that Read Between the Lines may ultimately land on Disney+ and Hulu as part of a pact between the streamers and Crime House — its Clues and Mother Knows Murder already exist on the platforms.

“Alan isn’t simply analyzing these cases from the sideline,” Read told THR. “As one of the country’s most prominent trial attorneys, he’s represented high-profile clients in some of the most closely watched and scrutinized legal battles, many of which turned out to be far different from how they first appeared.”

Read was deemed not guilty in the suspected killing of her boyfriend John O’Keefe, an officer on the Boston Police Department. O’Keefe was found dead in a snow bank after being dropped off at a party by Read.

“When the justice system falters, lives hang in the balance. Karen has a unique firsthand perspective of our system’s imperfections, understanding what it means when a legal case becomes a media narrative and the public reaches a verdict long before a courtroom does,” Jackson said of his client.

Read’s first trial resulted in a hung injury; her second found her not guilty on all charges related to O’Keefe’s death. (Read was convicted of a DUI.) The case was made famous by Investigation Discovery docuseries A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read. A scripted series starring Elizabeth Olsen as Read is currently in the works for Amazon Prime Video.

“Karen knows what it’s like to be on the other side of a true crime story, and Alan has spent his career inside the courtroom,” said Pave Studios founder and CEO Max Cutler. “Each week they’ll take on a new case with a perspective almost no one in this genre can offer, and that’s what makes this show unlike anything we’ve done.”

The deal for Read Between the Lines was brokered by UTA Creators, on behalf of Read and Jackson.
