Seven-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez claimed a 100th career victory at Balaton Park, fighting off compatriot Pedro Acosta to win the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Spaniards exchanged leads before Marquez beat KTM's 22-year-old rider by 1.5 seconds, and his Ducati team-mate Francesco Bagnaia finished third.

For his first Grand Prix win since San Marino in September, Marquez, 33, started the race in pole position weeks after recovering from surgeries on his foot and shoulder.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi did not finish after Aprilia team-mate Jorge Martin crashed into him and three other riders on lap one.

Marquez said he was "super happy" after he marked his milestone win by standing on his bike as he crossed the line, then celebrating with a red '100' flag.

"Expensive [hard-earned] win because after last year it changed everything," said Marquez, whose 2025 season ended early when he injured his shoulder in a collision with Bezzecchi.

"But the sport is like this. From one day to the other, one can change everything. "

He added: "I learned this in 2020," referring to his withdrawal from the 2020 season after breaking his arm in an opening-round crash.

Marquez also led from flag to flag to win the Saturday sprint ahead of Acosta and Bezzecchi.

Second in the overall standings, Martin finished sixth in the sprint, allowing Bezzecchi to extend his lead to 20 points.
