Drew Carey Sonja Flemming/CBS CBS is beefing up its unscripted series roster with two new shows and an updated version of one that hasn’t aired for several years.
The latter is Undercover Boss, which last aired on the network in 2022. The show is in pre-production on a new season, with CBS mainstay Drew Carey (The Price is Right) joining the series as host (previous seasons haven’t had one). The new series are a game show called Stacks of Cash and reality competition 24 Hour Millionaire.
“These orders reflect our commitment to building a deep year-round unscripted slate with formats that are ambitious, entertaining and distinctly CBS,” said Mitch Graham, executive vp alternative series at CBS. “We couldn’t think of a better time to bring back a re-imagined version of Boss, with Drew Carey serving as our host through undercover journeys that tap into the heart and authenticity of hard-working employees that audiences have always loved seeing. Our new series Stacks of Cash delivers another fun, appealing family game show and 24 Hour Millionaire gives us an exciting new format that feels incredibly groundbreaking in the competition space.”

Undercover Boss debuted on CBS in 2010 and has run for 11 seasons (plus one celebrity edition in 2018). As with prior seasons, it will follow CEOs and corporate executives who don disguises and take jobs as everyday workers to see how their companies really function. Studio Lambert produces the series; Stephen Lambert, Jack Burgess, Abigail McCarthy, Niall O’Driscoll and Tim Harcourt executive produce.
Mike O’Malley (Nemesis, Heels) will host Stacks of Cash, in which players answer trivia questions “to earn uniquely shaped blocks, then stack their way toward a gold line.” They have to keep their towers standing to win. The show is based on a format developed by Australia’s Eureka Studios Group and Seven Network; Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Rikkie Proost, Sonya Wilkes, David Tibballs, Ves D’Elia and Ed Egan executive produce.
24 Hour Millionaire comes from Big Brother exec producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan’s Fly on the Wall Entertainment. As the title implies, the show will unfold over a 24-hour period with no breaks for contestants, who will face physical and strategic challenges for a $1 million prize.
CBS hasn’t set premiere dates for any of the three shows yet. Stacks of Cash is the furthest along — it’s in post-production after filming all episodes. Undercover Boss and 24 Hour Millionaire are both in pre-production.
