President Trump will speak from the White House Friday afternoon as the administration marks a major milestone in expanding domestic nuclear energy.
The announcement comes just more than a year after Trump signed four executive orders seeking to quadruple the nation’s nuclear power, including making cutbacks to health and environmental considerations.
The president will be joined by Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, nuclear energy executives and other administration officials.
The event also comes amid the controversial U.S.-Saudi Arabia nuclear deal announced this week. Trump, however, said the terms are conditional on the nation normalizing relations with Israel as part of the Abraham Accords.
It is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. EDT.
